GENTLE STRANGER DRAGONFLY

"Post-clown" trio Gentle Stranger return with haunting new single 'Dragonfly' and announce their upcoming album Upon Return. Known for their live sets that are at once mercurial and meticulous, waltzing between countless musical genres and performance forms all the while evoking a full spectrum of emotions from absurd humour to an aching sadness; they are impossible to predict with the only certainty being brilliance. It's no mean feat documenting their live energy in recordings but with the help of producer Jamie Neville (PVA, leather.head) new single 'Dragonfly' perfectly captures their more spacious and tender moments, minimally arranged around a meandering midwest-emo tinged guitar line and Tom Hardwick-Allen's gently strained vocals, gradually accompanied one by one to glockenspiels, slide guitar, harmonica and horns. Here they describe the track in their own words, “A song that says shhh look at this little insect, borne by the rising heat of each consecutive patch of sun, as if its flight path were a melody. Then it zooms out past the sun and wonders what the first and last star in the universe was and will be, and how meaningless it is to try and quantify linear time at that scale. This is equated to the feeling of wanting not to die exactly, but to be unborn, to return to a state of pre-existence. Delivered imperfectly, straining, as if gazing up from the lowlands.” -Toby Evans-Jesra
